December 2019: Josh (4th year PhD) and Connor (MSci student) visit the laboratory of Prof. Ben Stamm (Department of Mathematics, RWTH Aachen University, Germany) working on implementations of novel hybrid methods for efficient dynamics simulations of charged dielectric colloids.

September 2019: Elena gives an invited lecture "Computational screening of porous materials for biogas upgrading" at the Symposium
on Sustainable Chemistry and Processes co-organised by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and held in York, United Kingdom.
September 2019: Elena gives an invited keynote lecture "Ordering, flexibility and frustration of two dimensional supramolecular arrays on graphene"
at the Autumn 2019 Meeting of the MultiComp COST action in Prague, Czech Republic.
September 2019: Elena visits Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research in Potsdam-Golm, Germany (by invitation of the Director Prof. Dr. Alexander Böker), and during this collaborative visit she gives a seminar on modelling electrostatic self-assembly.
August 2019: After 4 years working in the group, Harriet has moved to the University of Vienna as an FWF Lise Meitner Fellow. Lise Meitner Programme
targets highly qualified and talented researchers who could contribute to the scientific development of an Austrian research institution. To reach her new destination, Harriet crossed UK,
France, Germany and Austria, and then along the Danube, on her beloved motobike! All the very best, Harriet, on the road to scientific independence!
May 2019: At the 2019 Dan Eley Postdoctoral Research Symposium, Harriet Åhlgren recieves one of the two "Best Oral Presentation" prizes
for her talk "Designing two dimensional nanomaterials by ion implantation", and Anton Nizovtsev is awarded the "Best Poster" prize for his work "Supramolecular
arrays adsorbed on hexagonal boron nitride: modelling the structural and optical properties". The symposium took place at the School of Chemistry, University of Nottingham on May 15th 2019 to showcase research carried out by postdoctoral fellows in the School.
May 2019: John Fox, 2nd year undergraduate student in Chemistry, receives an Undergraduate Research Bursary from the Royal Society of Chemistry to undertake a research summer project in the group on electrostatic manipulation of nano-scale objects in planetary environments. Well done, John! And welcome to the group.
April 2019: Elena gives the invited lecture "Modelling self-assembly on surfaces" at the ISSC-22 Interdisciplinary Surface Science Conference, Swansea, UK, April 15-18, 2019.
April 2019: Abigail Miller, year 1 PhD student, wins "Best student poster presentation" at the Electrostatics 2019 Conference, Manchester, UK, April 8-11, 2019.
March 2019: Elena gives the invited lecture "Effects of encapsulation on damage to molecules by electron radiation" at the International Winterschool
on Electronic Properties of Novel Materials, Kirchberg, Austria, March 9-16, 2019.
March 2019: Elena gives the invited lecture "Dynamic simulations of electrostatic self-assembly" at the Computational Molecular Science (CMS 2019) conference, which took place at the University of Warwick, UK, March 27-29, 2019.
February 2019: The ISSI team working on the project "Electrostatic manipulation of nanoscale objects of lunar regolith" met in Bern for the second time.
During the project, members of the team studied impact generated dust clouds identified by spacecraft observations around several planetary satellites including the Moon. January 2019: Edward Mortimer, year 2 PhD student, was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship at the Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics at the University of Vienna. In 2019, Ed will visit the University of Vienna twice where he will be collaborating with Dr. Jani Kotakoski on investigation of the effect of hydrogen contamination on the formation of defects in graphene.
January 2019: Joshua Baptiste, year 3 PhD student, was awarded the John Simons travelling prize to fund his participation and present a talk
at the Electrostatics 2019 Conference taking place in Manchester in April 2019.
