December 2014: Elena gives an invited research seminar "Chemical reactions in TEM: theoretical perspective" at the Department of Physics, University of Helsinki, Finland (hosted by Prof. Kai Nordlund).
December 2014: Dr. Andrei Popov from the Institute of Spectroscopy, Russian Academy of Sciences, Troitsk, Russia visits the group and gives a research seminar "Simulation of processes in metal-carbon systems under electron irradiation in HRTEM".
October 2014: Elena gives "Frontiers in Physics" Masterclass lecture "Computational Transmission Electron Microscopy (CompuTEM)" at the School of Physics, University of Nottingham (hosted by Prof. Philip Moriarty).
October 2014: new postdoctoral research fellow joins the group. Matthew Lennox comes from Professor Tina Düren's group (Edinburgh/Bath), and he will be working on computational modelling of gas capture and separation in metal- organic frameworks. Welcome to the group, Matt!

September 2014: Michelle presents a poster "Methane adsorption in MOFs containing nanographene linkers: a computational study" at the 6th International FEZA Conference in Leipzig, Germany, September 8-11th 2014.
August 2014: Elena gives an opening keynote lecture "Studying chemical reactions in TEM: theoretical perspective" at NanoteC14, Brussels, Belgium.

June 2014: Steve's poster presentation "Irradiation-Induced Structure Change of Nanotube Encapsulated Molecules in TEM" won a (joint) first prize at the Department of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Postgraduate Research Colloquium. Well Done, Steve!
May 2014: Elena gives an invited research seminar "Electrostatic Interactions at the Nanoscale" at the Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, UPMC Sorbonne University, Paris (hosted by Prof. Andreas Savin).
April 2014: Dean's Fund Summer Studentship 2014 (School of Mathematical Sciences) is funded in collaboration with Dr. Kristoffer Van der Zee (Mathematical Sciences).
March 2014: Elena is promoted to Associate Professor in Computational and Theoretical Chemistry.
January 2014: Elena is invited to join AcademiaNet - Expert Database for Outstanding Female Scientists and Scholars www.academia-net.org. The AcademiaNet was launched in November 2010 by Germany's most prominent physicist, Chancellor Angela Merkel.
